πΊ πΉ All That Jazz and Then Some

100 years ago, Jelly Roll Morton first recorded βJelly Roll Mortonβ, a song that he had written and published in 1913 as the very first jazz composition. Born and raised in New Orleans, Jelly Roll then moved to New York City to lay his innovative music down on wax for the Victor Talking Machine Company as people finally began to enjoy music from their βrecord playersβ, which were originally called βphonographβ or βgramophoneβ.
Eventually, the Jazz genre caught fire in the 1930βs, and the American-born music began to be celebrated worldwide. To cherish the gift of Jazz music today, two different music videos are ready to rip open, so unwind early this Monday and enjoy!
First up, an incredible one-of-a-kind performance video to cherish. Three incredible artists, Mos Def, Lenny Kravitz, and Trombone Shorty, collaborating with New Orleansβ most traditional Jazz band, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, as one group Gulf Aid AllStars. This is an ultimate music treat filled with all that jazz, and the collaboration reminds us that the magic of music even emerges from the darkest moment.
